Springfield Junior School receives positive Ofsted praise
Our recent Ofsted inspection has judged the school to be ‘good’ in all areas. This is the first inspection since the school joined the Children’s Endeavour Trust in 2020. The input of parents and carers was considered by the inspection team as an important part of the evidence base. In addition to this, the inspectors listened to lots of pupils as part of their inspection activities.
The report praised our ‘happy school at the heart of the community,’ and noted that it is a positive place to learn, where children feel safe and happy. It recognised the ambition for all children, including children with additional needs and disadvantaged children, enabling them to achieve well and to access the same learning opportunities.
The use of OPAL for playtimes was commended as an opportunity for children to thrive, as well as to develop both their imagination and confidence.
Inspectors also stated that the curriculum is delivered well, and that behaviour is managed clearly and consistently, with positive relationships at the heart of this approach.
The school will continue to work on ensuring that core knowledge in some subjects is precisely identified, which is already part of the school development plan, as well as making sure opportunities to further embed learning are securely rooted in all subjects.
The Governing Body, the Trust and the staff at Springfield Junior School are very grateful for the ongoing support and input from parents and carers, as we continue to further develop our teaching and learning for all children.
