We aim to ensure every child from Year 3 who cannot read at age-related expectations gets urgent, targeted support so that they can access the curriculum and enjoy reading as soon as possible.

We use the Little Wandle Rapid Catch-Up, which is a complete catch-up programme which mirrors the core programme but has a faster pace.  Children who need extra support, work in regular, small groups with trained staff using high-quality resources.  Progress is carefully tracked and monitored so that children are given the right help at the right time.

This means older children can develop their language and become fluent readers, using texts which appeal to their growing understanding.
